SeABank appoints French banker as new general director

Vietnamese private creditor SeABank appointed acting CEO Loic Michel Marc Faussier as its general director on Tuesday for a two-year term.

Born in 1972 in France, Faussier graduated with a degree in economics from the Panthéon-Assas University and holds two master's degrees including: Master of Finance - Paris Dauphine University, and Master of Business Law - Paris Institute of Political Studies.

He has more than 25 years of experience working in important positions at major financial institutions and banks in France, Hong Kong and Japan, such as CEO of HSBC Vietnam, vice head of HSBC Japan, and deputy general director of Vietnam International Bank (VIB). He also served as Deputy Financial Attaché of the Chamber of Commerce at the Embassy of France in Beijing and worked for Citibank in Paris.

In July, Faussier was appointed acting CEO of SeABank after former CEO Le Thu Thuy resigned. He was appointed by the bank’s board as senior deputy CEO on June 20. Previously, he had served as an independent board member of the bank for the 2018-2023 term.

SeABank reported pre-tax profits of VND4,016 billion ($166.3 million) in the first nine months 2022, up 58.7% year-on-year and meeting 82% of the annual target.

It recorded net revenue of nearly VND7,282 billion ($301.5 million) in the period, up 41.5% year-on-year. Its non-interest income reached VND2,205 trillion ($91.29 million), up 70%.

SeABank recently completed raising its charter capital to VND19,809 billion ($820.2 million).
