The Long An International Port in the southern province of Tay Ninh on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement with SPG Bohaiwan Port and Bohwa Shipping Pte Ltd of China to expand its logistics network.

Under the deal, the three parties agreed to establish a new maritime shipping corridor, named “Two Ports, One Route,” directly linking northern China with southern Vietnam, aiming to boost two-way cargo capacity and promote bilateral trade.

The partnership will form an integrated logistics ecosystem, encompassing port operations, maritime transport, and logistics services. It aims at optimizing business costs, enhancing operational efficiency, and promoting a sustainable, green supply chain between Vietnam and China.

In addition, the three-party alliance will explore the expansion of diverse shipping routes, including containerized and dry bulk cargo, as well as connections to international warehousing networks.

It will also introduce a range of value-added services such as customs clearance, finance, and insurance, creating a comprehensive end-to-end logistics service chain.

At the signing ceremony, Cui Tiecheng, deputy general director of SPG Bohaiwan Port, noted that since the official launch of the two-way shipping route between Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province and Weifang Port in China’s Shandong province in August last year, the alliance has successfully operated 15 vessels, transporting more than 370,000 tons of high-value cargo such as advanced industrial equipment and raw materials for production.

In April 2025, a Vietnamese general cargo vessel transported goods from Liaoning, China, and docked at Long An International Port, marking a breakthrough in developing direct maritime shipping routes between the two countries.

“These results not only lay a solid foundation for today’s strategic cooperation agreement,” Cui emphasized, “but also clearly demonstrate the tremendous potential and development prospects of the trilateral partnership.”

The SPG Bohaiwan Port leader expressed the company's desire to cooperate with Long An International Port and Bohwa Shipping to build the Weifang Port-Long An Port route into a high-quality model project for economic and trade collaboration between the two nations.

At the same time, the alliance aims to expand the export of strategic products from both China and Vietnam to global markets, he added.

Meanwhile, Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee, said the trilateral partnership marks the beginning of a new phase of development, opening up significant opportunities to integrate Tay Ninh province's logistics supply chain into the international trade network.

“The establishment of a fixed maritime shipping route will not only accelerate trade promotion but also help reduce logistics costs and enhance the competitiveness of local enterprises,” he stressed.

Strategically located as a southern gateway of Vietnam, Long An International Port connects the key economic zones of Vietnam’s southeastern region, Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta, and international shipping routes.

The port is capable of accommodating vessels of up to 70,000 DWT and is equipped with a comprehensive logistics infrastructure. It is among the region’s key logistics centers under development, poised to become a major transshipment hub for southern Vietnam, contributing to the sustainable economic growth of Tay Ninh province and the country as a whole.
