Stock market sees strong rebound

The pervasive green across groups of stocks pulled the VN-Index up 35.05 points (2.84%) to close at 1,268.43 on Wednesday, with a significant improvement in liquidity.

Following the enthusiasm of Tuesday afternoon's trading session, the stock market started Wednesday morning in a frenzy, with a slew of sectors breaking through, including banking, securities, and construction. The excitement was driven to new highs in the afternoon session, extending the indexes' bullish streaks.

The VN30 basket, comprised of 30 largest stocks by market cap and liquidity on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), saw 27 gainers. This was led by PNJ (Phu Nhuan Jewelry) and FPT (FPT Corp) which hit the ceiling price, among other gainers like VPB, GVR, VRE, STB, and MWG. In the opposite direction, HPG (Hoa Phat Group) remained the biggest loser.

VN30-Index closed the session at 1,310.7, up 37.99 points. Liquidity reached VND6,490 billion ($279.9 million), accounting for 39% of HoSE liquidity.

Small and medium stocks also performed well, with VNSmallCap and VNMidcap up 3.55% and 3.91% respectively.

VN-Index closed Wednesday at 1,268.43, up 35.05 points, with 415 gaining (48 stocks hit the price ceiling) and 49 losing. HNX-Index climbed by 8.95 points (2.93%) to 314.91, while UpCoM-Index rose by 1.66 points (1.78%) to 94.78.

On the three exchanges, 815 stocks were gainers and 173 losers, with total liquidity reaching VND19,740 billion ($851.2 million), up 22% from Tuesday’s session.

The green coverage had spread across most groups such as banking, real estate, securities, construction, logistics, coal, oil and gas, steel, and fertilizers.

Champions on Wednesday were seafood with a series of stocks reaching the ceiling price, like IDI, ANV, VHC, CMX, FMC, and ACL.

Foreign investors remained net buyers to the tone of VND10 billion ($431,220) on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, focusing on DCM (Ca Mau Fertilizer), DPM (Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals), and VNM (Vinamilk).
