Strong demand helps VN-Index gain 10 points

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index surged 10.34 points, or 0.86%, to 1,207.67 on Friday, thanks to strong demand in the last minutes of the session.

The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), represented the index, saw up to 328 gainers and 139 losers. Its trading value hit VND21.9 trillion ($294.2 million), slightly down from the nearly VND22.7 trillion ($959.1 million) on Thursday, with more than 1.1 billion shares changing hands.

Cash flows mainly ran into finance-banking, industry and real estate groups, with VND5.9 trillion ($249 million), VND4.5 trillion ($189.9 million) and VND4.3 trillion ($181.47 million), respectively.

Blue chips were the main support for the VN-Index gain as their VN30 index soared 12.77 points to 1,212.45, with up to 25 tickers rising and only four declining.

VHM of real estate developer Vinhomes was the largest contributor to the market, expanding 2.43%. It was followed by NVL of Novaland, MSN of Masan Group, VNM of Vinamilk, TCB of Techcombank, STB of Sacombank, POW of PV Power, and VPB of VPBank, up 2.8%, 2.26%, 2.25%, 2.11%, 1.96%, 1.88% and 1.61% respectively.

Securities stocks showed the best performance, with SSI of Saigon Securities increasing 1.02%, VND of VNDirect Securities 4.64%, HCM of Ho Chi Minh City Securities 1.31%, VIX of VIX Securities 5.19%, FTS of FPT Securities 2.63%, and AGR of Agribank Securities 2.64%.

The real estate group recorded many tickers hitting their ceiling prices such as CTD of Coteccons Construction JSC, IJC of Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC, HBC of Hoa Binh Construction Corp, NBB of 577 Corp., HPX of Hai Phat Investment JSC, and QCG of Quoc Cuong Gia Lai Corp.The green also covered many other groups such as banking, aviation, energy and retail.

Foreign investors were net buyers on the HoSE for the third consecutive session to the tune of VND430 billion ($18.15 million). They mainly net purchased VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk, PNJ of Phu Nhuan Jewelry, and HSG of steel maker Hoa Sen Group.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange rose 0.81% to 237.54 points, while the UPCoM-Index on the Unlisted Public Companies Market gained 0.3% to 88.91.
