Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage (SPVB) is seeking permission to increase the output of its factory in Vietnam’s northern province of Bac Ninh by 65%, from 500 million to 825 million liters a year.

According to a recent project report, the project started in 2010 and received its latest adjusted license, the ninth edition, in June 2022.

It covers 12.3 hectares in VSIP Bac Ninh, an industrial park following the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model.

The current output includes 223 million liters of carbonated drinks, 247 million liters of non-carbonated drinks (including bottled water), and 30 million liters of spirits and alcoholic drinks (alcoholic concentration below 5.5%). The factory’s output in 2023 reached 400 million liters, or 80% of the designed capacity.

Suntory Pepsico aims to install one new production line and put it into operation in the first quarter of 2025, increasing the total production lines to nine. The new output of 825 million liters features 509 million liters of carbonated drinks, 286 million liters of non-carbonated drinks, and no changes to 30 million liters of spirits and alcoholic drinks.

The expansion can hike the water consumption at the factory to 1.41 million cubic meters.

In line with the latest move, the project’s total investment can reach $116 million.

Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Co. Ltd. was established as a strategic alliance by Japan's Suntory and the United States' PepsiCo in 2013. Together, the joint venture’s portfolio in Vietnam features many popular brands including Pepsi, 7 Up, Mirinda, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Sting, Lipton, TEA+, Aquafina, Revive, Good Mood, Tropicana, and Twister.
