Thaco's agri arm seeks to expand $44 mln cattle project in central Vietnam
Truong Hai Agriculture JSC (Thaco Agri), the agriculture arm of conglomerate Thaco, looks to aggressively expand its flagship cattle farming project in the central Vietnam province of Gia Lai.
At a meeting with Gia Lai authorities on Tuesday, Thaco chairman Tran Ba Duong said the existing project covers 155 hectares in Ia Puch commune, with a total investment of VND1.16 trillion ($44.04 million).
The farm maintains a herd of 52,000 heads. As of October 2025, the company had spent VND4.84 trillion ($183.29 million) on the project and employed more than 1,000 workers. Thaco expects the project’s 2025 revenue at VND2.06 trillion ($77.96 million).
Bouyed by the performance of the Ia Puch cattle farm, Thaco asked for approval to expand the project into a 2,218-hectare integrated long-term crop and castle project. The firm asked for province’s support in land access, transport connectivity, and special policy mechanisms.

The Gia Lai People’s Committee said it would work closely with the company to facilitate the development.
Last month, Gia Lai authorities and Thaco Agri worked to speed up five projects totalling VND11 trillion ($417.3 million) that the company has committed to invest in the province.
Thaco Agri currently operates six circular agriculture projects integrating crop cultivation and livestock in Gia Lai province through its subsidiary Cao Su Trung Nguyen. These include more than 1,900 hectares in Ia Puch, 1,100 hectares in Po To, and 658 hectares in Ia Le.
At present, the firm manages over 10,000 hectares of agricultural operations in Vietnam, more than 27,000 hectares in Laos and over 44,000 hectares in Cambodia. Founded in 2019 with charter capital of VND900 billion ($3.41 million), Thaco Agri had expanded its capital base to VND17.2 trillion ($651.89 million) by August 2025.
Binh Dinh and Gia Lai provinces were recently merged to form the new Gia Lai, which borders Dak Lak province, Quang Ngai province, Cambodia, and the East Sea.
