Thailand-invested food giant CP fined $31,000 for environmental violations
Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Nai has issued a fine of VND790 million ($31,080) to Thailand-invested C.P. Vietnam Corporation for violating environmental regulations.
In a recent decision related to a check made on November 8, provincial authorities noted three violations of C.P. Vietnam.
They included not having approval for the environmental impact report for its poultry feed project, not having an environmental license for its animal feed project, and not running waste treatment facilities correctly.
For the three violations, the fines are VND350 million ($13,770), VND300 million, and VND140 million, respectively, totaling VND790 million.

Dong Nai authorities did not give additional punishments such as suspending or relocating the facilities.
Founded in 1993, C.P. Vietnam, under Thailand’s conglomerate Charoen Pokphand (C.P. Group), now operates 21 factories across Vietnam. In Dong Nai province, the firm runs two animal-poultry feed plants, one fisheries feed plant, and one meat processing factory.
Earlier this month, C.P. Vietnam and the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture Vietnam (PSAV) signed a memorandum of understanding to advance sustainable agriculture in the country. The PSAV is an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The two sides will promote the transformation of Vietnam’s food system towards transparency, accountability, and sustainability.
Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF), the parent firm of C.P Vietnam, recorded revenue of THB63,581 million ($1.85 billion) from its Vietnam operation in the first half of this year, up 9% year-on-year.
