WHA Industrial Development, a leading Thai firm, has invested $200 million in the central province of Nghe An and targets to pour another $1 billion over the next five years.

Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, chairperson and CEO of WHA, mentioned the target at a Wednesday meeting with provincial authorities, seeking their support for the coming phases of the development.

The WHA Industrial Park in Nghe An has attracted two major investments from Foxconn and Sunny Optical, covering 40 hectares and 56 hectares, respectively, the executive noted.

In line with the global trend of diversifying investment away from China to other countries, including Vietnam, WHA seeks to host investors with demand for 80-100 hectares of land, Jareeporn said.

Nghe An Chairman Nguyen Duc Trung affirmed that the province would facilitate WHA’s investment activities. He lauded WHA for attracting investments of $1.12 billion into its Nghe An facility, including $500 million from Goertek, $100 million from Foxconn and $150 million from Sunny Optical.

Trung also urged WHA to focus on efficient implementation of its ongoing project in the central province, which has completed the 143.5 hectare first phase; processing the 354.5 hectare second phase; and making preparations for the 243 hectare third phase.
