The event aims to explore solutions to stimulate consumer demand, promote the development of the domestic market, enhance local production and distribution capacity, and support businesses and consumers.

The seminar will feature the participation of representatives from various ministries and state agencies, economic experts, and corporate leaders.

The global economy is undergoing major upheavals, with the trade war between the world’s two largest economies - the U.S. and China - at the forefront. Moreover, the rise of trade protectionism is becoming a rapidly spreading trend.

President Trump on April 2 said that he would levy massive 46% tariffs on imports from Vietnam as part of a new wave of global impositions, effective from April 9.

On April 9, he dropped his reciprocal tariffs for countries reaching out to the U.S. to negotiate to 10% for 90 days. The 90-day reprieve is applied to nearly 90 nations except for China.

Although the reciprocal tariffs have been temporarily postponed, these developments pose a serious threat to the stability of the Vietnamese economy.

This situation highlights the urgent need to fundamentally strengthen the domestic market, reduce reliance on exports, and increase resilience to global fluctuations.
