Three killed in drunk driving incident in northern Vietnam
Bac Giang police have detained Nguyen Duc Thinh for investigation into a road accident that killed three family members in the northern province on Thursday.
The police initially determined that Thinh, 35, had violated the regulations on road traffic. He was found driving under the influence of over 0.604 milligrams of alcohol per liter of breath.
The police also took a blood sample of Thinh for drug testing; results are yet to be announced.

At around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, a car driven by Thinh collided with a motorbike driven by 48-year-old Nguyen Manh Hung at the intersection of Hoang Van Thu and Hung Vuong streets. The motorbike carried Hung’s 44-year-old wife and their daughter, 13.
Traffic camera images show that the street was nearly empty when the accident occurred. The car was traveling at a fast speed and crashed into the motorbike.
At the scene, the front of the car was damaged, while the motorcycle was deformed. The three motorcyclists died on the spot, lying about 10 meters apart and several tens of meters from the crash site.
Nguyen Duc Thinh is an officer of the road maintenance management board under Bac Giang's Department of Transport.
On Thursday afternoon, Khuat Viet Hung, acting vice chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, worked with relevant authorities of Bac Giang on what the committee called “an extremely serious accident”.
