Toyota Vios, Mitsubishi Expander bestselling cars in first 11 months

The Toyota Vios and Mitsubishi Xpander were the bestselling vehicles in Vietnam in the first 11 months of this year with 20,765 and 20,127 units, respectively.

The data does not include VinFast and Hyundai, which are not VAMA members, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA).

Sales of the Vios, a five-seater sedan, included 9,257 in the north, 3,974 in the central region, and 7,534 in the south. November sales of the model reached 1,985, the highest for sedans among VAMA members, but still lower than the Hyundai Accent with 2,097.

Sales of the Xpander, a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), included 19,487 completely-built-up (CBU) and 640 completely knocked down (CKD) units. Sales in the southern region peaked at 10,143, followed by the northern region with 6,106, and the central region with 3,878.

The third and fourth best sellers were the SUV Toyota Corolla Cross with 18,994, and the Ford Ranger, a pick-up truck, with 14,023.

Brand-wise, Toyota was the bestseller in the first 11 months with 81,491, or 24.9% of the total. Other top selling brands were Mitsubishi with 36,805 (11.2%); and KIA and Mazda, assembled by domestic automaker Thaco, with corresponding figures of 57,784 (17.6%) and 33,552 (10.2%).
