Turkish firm-led consortium wins bid to build Long Thanh airport terminal
A consortium led by Turkish conglomerate IC Ictas has won the VND35 trillion ($1.49 billion) bidding package to build the terminal for Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai.
State-run Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the project investor, announced Thursday that the consortium called Vietur has been contracted to implement Package No. 5.10 “Construction and Equipment Installation for the Passenger Terminal Building” in 39 months.

The investor had planned to start construction on the terminal at the end of August and complete it in late November 2026.
Vietur consists of IC Istas, a subsidiary of IC Holdings of Turkey, and nine Vietnamese firms: Ricons; Newtecons; Sol E&C; Construction Corporation No. 1; Vinaconex; Hanoi Construction Corporation; Phuc Hung Holdings; ATAD and Hawee.
The Turkish contractor has built the Pulkovo airport in Russia, Varna Burgas in Bulgaria and several airports in its homeland.
Vietur was one of three bidders joining in the second bidding round besides Hoa Lu Joint Venture and CHEC-BCEG-Vietnam Contractors. Early this month, the ACV announced that Vietur was the only one that met all the technical requirements.
ACV had first invited tenders for Package No. 5.10 in September 2022. However, it only received one bid from a consortium of local firms: Coteccons, Vinaconex, Centra, Phuc Hung Holdings, REE, Hoa Binh Construction and Hawee. It cancelled the tender in mid-December as the bid did not meet requirements.
ACV announced early May this year that the second bidding invitation for the package has been extended to June 12, 2023 instead of the original date of April 28.
The Long Thanh International Airport is a mega project with a total investment of VND336.63 trillion ($14.12 billion) divided into three phases. The first phase, worth VND110 trillion, will consist of a runway, terminal and auxiliary facilities that can serve 25 million passengers per year. The terminal is the largest package of the first phase.
Once completed, the airport will be the nation’s biggest, helping reduce overload at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
