Two Vietnam stocks added to MSCI Frontier Markets Index

Global index provider MSCI added two Vietnamese tickers to its MSCI Frontier Markets Index on Tuesday (Hanoi time) in its August review.

NAB of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank) and BWE of Binh Duong Water Environment Corporation JSC were included in the index.

Meanwhile, two other Vietnamese stocks – EVF of EVN Finance JSC and NT2 of PetroVietnam Power Nhon Trach 2 JSC – were excluded from the index’s basket.

MSCI made seven additions and four deletions during the review, bringing the total of constituents to 212.

As of July 31, Vietnam remained the top weight of the MSCI Frontier Markets Index, with 25.39%.

Among the top 10 constituents are present two Vietnamese tickers, namely HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and VHM of residential housing developer Vinhomes, taking the fourth and ninth places.

Changes in constituents for the MSCI Frontier Markets Index will take place as of the close of August 30, 2024.

The next review will be announced on early November 7, 2024 (Vietnam time).

The MSCI Frontier Markets Index captures large and mid-cap representation across 28 Frontier Markets countries. The index covers about 85% of the free float-adjusted market capitalization in each country.

At the close on Tuesday, NAB shares hit the ceiling at VND16,200 ($0.64) while BWE slid 0.6% to VND41,950.

NT2 and EVF shares dropped 3.48% and 1.7% to VND19,400 ($0.77) and VND11,550, respectively.
