Vietnam bourse index inches up after sharpest hike in 5 months
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 2.71 points, or 0.23%, to close at 1,204.43 on Tuesday, following its sharpest increase in five months at 18.35 points recorded in the previous session.
The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), represented by the index, saw 281 gainers and 203 losers. Its trading value increased by 11.24% to VND22 trillion ($909.7 million). Cash flows mainly ran into finance, real estate and industry stocks.
The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, expanded 2.07 points to 1,215.47, with 13 tickers gaining and 14 losing.
Three stocks in the Vingroup ecosystem had the most negative impacts on the market as VIC of Vingroup, VHM of Vinhomes and VRE of Vincom Retail lost 2.01%, 0.18% and 1.7%, respectively.
The banking group was the main support for the market, with 17 codes closing in the green. Of which, VCB of Vietcombank, VPB of VPBank and BID of BIDV were the biggest contributors to the major index.
Real estate, securities, and retail tickers showed good performance while the energy and aviation groups were in the red.
Foreign investors were net sellers on the HoSE to the tune of nearly VND206 billion ($8.5 million) after net buying nearly VND130 billion ($5.4 million) in the previous session. They net sold SSI of Saigon Securities, STB of Sacombank, DPM of Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation and MSN of Masan Group.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange went up 1.6 points to 246.48, while the UPCoM-Index on the Unlisted Public Companies Market inched up 0.63 points to 92.36.
