Vietnam conglomerate Vingroup plans to make first homegrown general-purpose humanoid robot this year
Vingroup (HoSE:VIC) plans to develop Vietnam’s first made-in-Vietnam general-purpose humanoid robot as part of its 2025 technology and industrial development strategy.
The initiative will be carried out by VinMotion, which was established by Vingroup earlier this year, according to Vingroup's annual report. VinMotion specializes in research, development, and application of multifunctional robots.
VinMotion has a charter capital of VND1 trillion ($38.48 million), with Vingroup holding a 51% stake. The remaining 49% is owned by Vingroup chairman Pham Nhat Vuong and his two sons.

In addition to VinMotion, VinRobotics, a VIC subsidiary focused on robotics development, will continue working on robot prototypes, refining their designs through testing and market validation.
In the industrial segment, Vingroup aims to maintain the leadership of its EV subsidiary VinFast in the domestic EV market.
VinFast will continue to focus on popular models such as the VF 3 and VF 5, while expanding its distribution network and enhancing customer service.
In the broader Asian market, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong’s automotive company will continue to expand in key countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, and India.
This expansion is supported by an ecosystem strategy aimed at promoting green mobility, through partners such as GSM and V-Green. Notably, assembly plants in Indonesia and India are expected to begin production in 2025.
