Vietnam developer gets initial approval for logistics industrial cluster on central coast
The Western Pacific Group got an in-principle nod Saturday to build a 305-hectare logistics industrial cluster in Thua Thien-Hue province.
The central-coastal province gave the approval at a local investment promotion conference, allowing the Ho Chi Minh City-based company to carry out research for the project that is expected to support growth of the Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone.
After two years of studying the area with KPMG as a consultant, Western Pacific has concluded that building a logistics industrial cluster would help drive Chan May Port’s business, enhance the economic zone’s activities, and attract more investors to the province.

Western Pacific Deputy CEO Truong Quoc Hung proposed at Saturday’s conference that the cluster be built on a site next to the Chan May Port, creating a model combination of a seaport, industrial park and logistics center.
A logistics industrial cluster is a complex of logistics facilities like international and local ports, transportation centers, bonded warehouses, airport warehouses and industrial parks. The model mentioned above can boost transportation and logistics efficiency while optimizing cost, time and use of workforce.
Other logistics industrial cluster investments by Western Pacific in the country include the Yen Phong II-A logistics and industry cluster on 159 hectares in Bac Ninh province and the Yen Lenh port and industrial cluster on almost 100 hectares in Ha Nam province, both in the north.
