Vietnam parliament to vote on land, credit laws in mid-Jan extraordinary plenum
The National Assembly, Vietnam’s highest legislative body, is set to conduct an extraordinary meeting next month, featuring votes on draft amended laws on land and credit institutions on the agenda.
The event is set to take place on January 15-17 and January 19, said National Assembly (NA) General Secretary Bui Van Cuong during an NA Standing Committee gathering on Monday to preview the upcoming plenum.

Other key tasks of the upcoming sitting include votes on a draft resolution on special mechanisms and policies to speed up national target programs, a draft resolution on increasing medium-term public investment in 2021-2025, and public investment for state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
Vietnam’s current Land Law took effect in July 2014. Since 2019, the law has undergone many draft changes, but the NA has delayed voting on it several times. At the last biannual meeting in November, the NA was originally set to approve nine draft laws, including the draft Land Law.
However, the NA then updated the agenda and the vote was left out, as many contents still needed more discussions. Major approved bills at the last meeting included a resolution on the global minimum tax (GMT) and the amended Law on Real Estate Business.
