Vietnam's agri major BAF eyes two 6-story buildings for pig farming in southern Vietnam
BAF Vietnam Agriculture JSC has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to develop a smart pig farming complex including two six-story buildings in the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc.

This information was shared by Nguyen Van Minh, deputy general director of BAF Vietnam, during a working session chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien on the pilot implementation of the multi-story smart pig farming model on Wednesday.
Minh stated that BAF Vietnam has set a target of reaching an annual output of 10 million commercial pigs by 2030. To achieve this goal, it plans to implement two multi-story pig farming projects, in strategic partnership with China's Muyuan Foods Co. Ltd. - the world’s largest pig farming firm.
Muyuan is well-known for its vertically integrated pig farm model, which incorporates advanced technologies in farm management, waste treatment, air filtration, odor control, and environmental protection.
According to the proposal, the first project, located in Tan Chau (Tay Ninh province), will house 64,000 breeding sows and is expected to produce 1.6 million commercial pigs annually. The second project, in Dong Phu (Binh Phuoc province), will have a capacity of 20,000 sows, generating around 500,000 commercial pigs per year.
Regarding project implementation, the company representative noted that there are currently no specific regulations on the stocking density for this farming model.
In Q1/2025, BAF Vietnam sold over 160,000 pigs, up nearly 50% over the same period last year. Revenue from pig sales doubled year-over-year and nearly matched the company’s whole-2023 sales.
The firm posted its highest livestock profit in Q1 since listing in late 2021, thanks to a surge in pig output and revenue that nearly doubled year-over-year.
Its net revenue came in at VND1.1 trillion ($42.36 million), down 10% year-over-year. However, the cost of goods sold dropped by 26% to just over VND833 billion ($32 million).
As a result, gross profit surged to VND290 billion ($11.16 million), 2.27 times higher than the same period last year. The gross margin jumped from just over 10% to nearly 26%, according to BAF’s newly-released Q1 financial statement.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, BAF closed Thursday at VND36,300 ($1.39) per share.
