Vietnam’s first LNG-fired power plants to enter commercial operation in Jun-Sept 2025
Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4, Vietnam’s first LNG-to-power plants, will begin commercial operations in June and September 2025, respectively, says project investor PV Power.
PV Power, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange as POW, revealed the schedule at a Friday meeting with stakeholders during a site visit to the $1.4 billion project.
Final tasks are being completed at the complex with two power plants, readying them for trial production, the firm said.

The latest timeline is two months later than the previous targets of April and July 2025 that the project management had revealed in September 2024.
The 1,500-MW project, located in the southern province of Dong Nai, has an annual output of nine billion kWh, close to PV Power’s electricity generation of 12.7 billion kWh in the first 10 months of this year.
PV Power currently runs four gas-fired power plants, one coal-fired power plant, and two hydropower plants.
Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 power plants can help boost Vietnam’s green energy transition towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050, the company said.
