Vietnam’s VPBank, Dabaco added to MSCI Frontier Markets Index

Global index provider MSCI has added two Vietnamese stocks – VPBank (HoSE: VPB) and Dabaco (HoSE: DBC) – to the MSCI Frontier Markets Index in its November review.

No Vietnamese stocks were deleted from the flagship index of the frontier markets tracked by MSCI. With four additions and five deletions, the index now comprises 211 tickers.

As of October 31, Vietnam still accounted for the biggest weight of the index, at 25%, trailed by Romania (12.85%) and Morocco (11.39%).

Among the top 10 constituents were two Vietnamese stocks: steelmaker Hoa Phat Group (HoSE: HPG) and housing developer Vinhomes (HoSE: VHM), with respective weights of 2.68% and 2.01%, ranking fourth and eighth.

Meanwhile, there were 28 additions and 10 deletions from the MSCI Frontier Markets Small Cap Index in the regular review.

Among them, eight Vietnamese tickers were added: DL1, MCM, VC3, PVP, CSM, HT1, VTZ, and HVT. Meanwhile, six were removed: INN, CLL, DBC, GKM, OCH, and TDM.

DBC was moved from the MSCI Frontier Markets Small Cap Index to the MSCI Frontier Markets Index.

As of October 31, Vietnamese stocks accounted for the lion’s share in the index, with a weight of 32.44%.

Changes will take effect after the close on November 29. The next review will take place on February 11, 2025.
