Vietravel Airlines names second CEO in 1 year
Dao Duc Vu, former deputy general director of Bamboo Airways, has been appointed CEO of Vietravel Airlines, starting from September 4.
Vietravel Airlines announced the appointment on Tuesday as Nguyen Minh Hai, who was appointed CEO nearly a year ago, stepped down due to “personal reasons”.
Vu is the third CEO since the carrier was set up in 2019.

Vu has more than 35 years of experience in the aviation industry, having held many senior positions at entities like the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Cambodia Angkor Air, Vietjet, and Bamboo Airways.
Vu was once Vietravel Airlines's deputy general director in charge of flight operations. In October 2022, he moved to Bamboo Airways for the same position.
Vietravel Airlines chairman of the board of directors Nguyen Quoc Ky said that the airline is entering a new phase of development with many important goals. New CEO Dao Duc Vu is expected to help the carrier promote its air route expansion plan, he added.
The carrier began commercial operations in early 2021. The airline faces difficulties with fleet size limited to three aircraft.
In early April, Vietravel Airlines said it had a quarterly net profit for the first time, with more than VND10 billion ($406,000) in Q1/2024.
The airline did not announce revenue and profit figures for Q2, but said the total number of commercial flights increased by 17.9%, while the total number of seats and passengers rose by 18.8% and 39.2% year-on-year, respectively.
