Billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup, on Thursday announced the establishment of VinDT JSC, which provides Vietnam's first electric vehicle driver training and testing services.

VinDT not only aims to make driving skills more accessible to the public but also offers opportunities for them to understand and master smart EVs, thereby strongly promoting the trend of green transportation in Vietnam.

The company provides training and testing for driver’s licenses exclusively using VinFast EVs, with a vision to become the first and largest EV driver training unit in Vietnam. It plans to establish up to 20 facilities nationwide.

VinFast, a manufacturer of EVs, is a subsidiary of Vingroup, of which Pham Nhat Vuong is chairman.

By using VinFast EVs for training and practice, VinDT allows learners to engage with high-tech, eco-friendly vehicles right from their first driving lessons and gain in-depth knowledge about cars.

VinDT’s learners will acquire knowledge and skills regarding EVs and understand their advantages compared to gasoline/diesel vehicles, forming a habit of using EVs for transportation, thus contributing to the nation’s green transition.

With modern, well-equipped infrastructure, "a dedicated and enthusiastic" teaching staff, and a fleet of high-quality EVs, the company will facilitate the “motorization” journey of the Vietnamese people.

Notably, EV driving skills will also open up job opportunities with stable incomes and a "civilized, professional working environment", thanks to a strategic partnership between VinDT and Green and Smart Mobility JSC (Xanh SM).

If learners are interested, VinDT will act as a bridge to help them become Xanh SM taxi drivers.

Pham Nhat Vuong is also founder of Xanh SM, an electric taxi ride-hailing service and a major purchaser of VinFast vehicles.

CEO of VinDT Nguyen Huong Giang stated that EVs are becoming increasingly popular in Vietnam and reflect an irreversible trend. Therefore, VinDT was established to provide widespread access to systematic training in driving EVs for the public.

"This also marks the beginning of an individual’s journey towards electrified mobility, helping to elevate the quality of life and making a practical contribution to the country’s sustainable development," she noted.

According to the plan, VinDT will begin recruiting teachers and enrolling students across the country this year to meet the growing demand, Giang added.
