Vingroup starts work on major transport projects in southern Vietnam
Vingroup (HoSE: VIC) has broken ground on three major transport infrastructure projects in Ho Chi Minh City, as Vietnam’s largest conglomerate expands infrastructure investment to improve regional connectivity.
The projects are expected to strengthen transport links across southern Vietnam, support economic growth, and open new development opportunities for the country’s southern coastal region.

The centerpiece is the Can Gio-Vung Tau sea crossing, which will provide the first direct road connection between HCMC and the former coastal province of Vung Tau, which is now part of HCMC following an administrative merger last July. The crossing will reduce travel time between the two sites to around 10 minutes.
The project will span approximately 14.1 km, beginning at the Can Thanh-Long Hoa boulevard in Vinhomes Green Paradise urban area and ending at 30 Thang 4 street in Vung Tau.
Designed with six traffic lanes and a speed limit of 80 kph, the project has an estimated investment of over VND93 trillion ($3.54 billion).
The route will include more than eight kilometers of sea bridge and a 3.85-km subsea tunnel, making it Vietnam’s longest and most advanced marine transport system.
Vingroup said it expects to complete the project within three years after land handover and once construction conditions are fully met.
The company said the link is expected to boost marine industries, tourism, and logistics while becoming a landmark infrastructure project for HCMC.
Alongside the sea crossing, Vingroup also commenced construction of two strategic interchanges connecting the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway with Rung Sac road in Can Gio district and National Highway 50.
The interchanges are being built by an EPC consortium that includes SGC Investment and Construction JSC, a member of the Vingroup ecosystem.
Once completed, the projects will improve connectivity along the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway corridor, enhancing regional transport links and significantly reducing travel times between Can Gio, HCMC, and neighboring southern localities.
