VN-Index marks six-session gaining streak

The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), rose 2.04 points, or 0.19%, to 1,054.29 on Tuesday, marking its sixth consecutive gaining session.

The major bourse saw 201 gainers and 185 losers, with over 648 million shares traded for over VND11.2 trillion ($476.7 million), an increase of VND1.5 trillion from the previous session and the highest level in half a month.

VN30 index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest-cap stocks, rose 2.37 points to 1,056.82, with 12 tickers rising and 13 declining.

Strong divergence was seen in two major groups of real estate and banking. Among banking codes, VPB of VPBank, EIB of Eximbank, LPB of LienVietPostBank, STB of Sacombank, and HDB of HDBank decreased 1.18%, 1.04%, 0.97%, 0.39%, and 0.27%, respectively. Meanwhile, VCB of Vietcombank, CTG of VietinBank, and TCB of Techcombank closed in green

Notably, VPB ended its five-session gaining streak although the bank on Monday inked a deal to sell a 15% stake to Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. (SMBC) for about $1.5 billion.

In the real estate group, NVL of Novaland dropped 0.79%, ending its chain of four rising sessions. In addition, DIG of DIG Corp. lost 2.1%, CEO of CEO Group 1.8%, and KBC of Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corp. 1.5%.

Meanwhile, PTN of Khanh Hoa House Development JSC, LEC of Central Power Real Estate JSC and PVL Viet Property Investment JSC hit their ceiling prices; and DXG of Dat Xanh Group expanded 1.65%.

Foreign investors continued to be net buyers on the HoSE for the sixth consecutive session to the tune of nearly VND130 billion ($5.53 million). They mainly net purchased VHM of real estate developer Vinhomes, MWG of Mobile World Investment Corporation, TCB of Techcombank, and REE of Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse went down 0.91 points to 205.76, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market dropped 0.1 to 75.58.
