$366 mln FDI capital registered in HCMC in first 2 months

Ho Chi Minh City attracted approximately $365.79 million in registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first two months of the year, an increase of 87.1% year-on-year.

The statistics were released at a conference on HCMC socio-economic development, chaired by city Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc last Friday.

The figure included $89.15 million from 153 newly registered projects, up 162.3% and 6.3% year-on-year, respectively; $38.55 million from capital expansions of 45 operational projects, down 8.9% and up 50%; and $238.1 million from 255 capital contributions/stake acquisitions, up 99.8% and down 2.3%.

According to the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCMC (ITPC), as of now, 125 countries and territories have invested in the city.

The city has made a detailed plan for over VND84.1 trillion ($3.29 billion) public investment capital disbursement in 2025. This includes over VND3.2 trillion ($125.2 million) from the central budget, more than VND64.1 trillion ($2.5 billion) from the local budget, and more than VND16.7 trillion ($653.49 million) in local budget reserves.

According to the city's State Treasury, in the year to February 21, the city's total disbursed public investment capital was VND1.8 trillion ($70.4 million), or 2.1% of the assigned capital.
