ACE Technologies plans R&D center in Vietnam
South Korea-based ACE Technologies Corp., a leading wireless communications device business, is seeking to set up a research and development (R&D) center in Vietnam.
ACE Technologies chairman Gwan-Young Koo disclosed the information in a meeting Tuesday with Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long.
Long suggested the South Korean firm focus on areas of radio frequency (RF), 5G technology, and workforce training.
The South Korean executive said the firm is looking forward to building an R&D center in Vietnam, which would feature Vietnamese technicians.
ACE Technologies has been investing in Vietnam since 2015 with a $60-million factory in Dong Van II Industrial Park, the northern province of Ha Nam, which manufactures wireless antennas and RF filters for smartphones.
South Korea is the biggest foreign investor in Vietnam as of October 20 with 9,462 projects worth $80.61 billion. A recent South Korean investment in R&D in Vietnam involves a Hanoi center of Samsung. The $220-million project is expected to complete later this year and recruit up to 3,000 people during operation.
