Amazon Web Services, Nokia to provide services to Vietnam major MobiFone
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Nokia will provide services to Vietnamese telecom giant MobiFone, according to a deal signed between the sides at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 early this week.
AWS, a global provider of IT infrastructure services in the form of cloud computing, will provide consultation for MobiFone employees and customers, train staff, and cooperate to deliver digitalization and cloud services to businesses.
Nguyen Hoang Anh, chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC), said the collaboration would further facilitate trade and investments between Vietnam and the U.S., while helping AWS connect further with the Vietnamese business community.
With vision until 2030, MobiFone has completed its five-year digitalization strategy, focusing on six areas, namely product development, infrastructure, data, internal governance, customer services, and corporate culture.
Finland-based giant Nokia will assist MobiFone with 5G technology and the export of infrastructure into the cloud, fix-wireless access service on its 5G platform, and commercialization of the latter’s 5G network.
The market for network hardware serving cybersecurity and applications has indefinite potentials for tech firms inside and outside Vietnam, said Ricky Corker, chief customer experience officer at Nokia, while pointing out that 5G technology is the key to digital transformation per Vietnam’s strategy.
MobiFone has set a revenue target of VND28,754 billion ($1.23 billion) this year, up 1.5% compared with 2022's actual tally.
At the MWC 2023, Viettel, the biggest telecom business in Vietnam, signed cooperation agreements with Qualcomm, Intel, and Pegatron.
Per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Viettel and Intel, the two will cooperate in network transformation strategies and joint innovations for 2023-2024, focusing on digital services, 5G, and cloud services.
Viettel and Qualcomm Technologies will jointly deliver state-of-the-art 5G infrastructure globally.
The military-run Vietnamese corporation will provide 5G private network services to the 4,500-square meter factory of Apple supplier Pegatron in the northern city of Hai Phong.
