Bosch Vietnam plant unveils rooftop solar system for sustainable energy production
Bosch Vietnam and its partner Tona Syntegra Solar Company inaugurated a 1,540-kWp solar power system at the Bosch Plant (HcP) on December 15, marking a significant milestone for HcP on its journey towards adopting green energy for the production process.
“Across all activities and the production processes at our Bosch Vietnam plant, our goal is to minimize electricity consumption significantly, striving for effective CO2 neutrality through a multitude of initiatives. The solar power system stands out as a noteworthy project, exemplifying our steadfast commitment to utilizing energy sustainably," stated Andreas Abbing, vice president and technical manager of the Bosch Vietnam, plant at the event.

According to Bosch Vietnam, the successful installation of the solar panel system at its plant will generate approximately 2,300 MWh of clean energy annually and reduce 1,630 tons of CO2 emissions. This reduction is equivalent to around 30,000 trees planted annually.
Abbing said that Bosch Vietnam is continuously trying to improve the quality of carbon neutrality. In its commitment to environmental protection, a noteworthy investment regarding of 900,000 euros ($1 million) has facilitated the operation of a wastewater recycling system.
“Since 2020, treated wastewater has accounted for 65% of the plant's total water consumption. We have initiated various campaigns across all Bosch’s locations in Vietnam, including an annual tree planting campaign, contributing to the planting of hundreds of trees to enrich the Vietnamese forests. Internal green campaigns inspire our associates to partake in "Reuse-Reduce-Recycle" actions, promoting conservation of natural resources, energy efficiency, and environmental protection.
"Furthermore, our active engagement in social initiatives and community projects in Vietnam, such as vocational training and other social programs, aims to empower local communities and enhance the quality of life in the region,” Abbing said.
Bosch established its first representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 1994. Since 2007, Bosch has expanded its footprint in Vietnam where it has branch offices in Hanoi and Danang, as well as a Powertrain Solutions plant in Dong Nai province that manufactures pushbelts for continuously variable transmissions (CVT) in automobiles.
In addition, Bosch operates Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW) as well as an automotive R&D center for mobility solutions in HCMC. As of May 2022, Bosch employed over 5,800 associates in Vietnam.
Bosch has diversified businesses in Vietnam. Today, all four Bosch business sectors, namely Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology have operations in the country.
