The commissioning of a new plant - phase 1 in the southern province of Tay Ninh on Friday has increased the capacity of Ho Chi Minh City-based Century Synthetic Fiber Corporation by 1.5 times to 99,000 tons per year.

The plant, invested by Unitex - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Century Synthetic Fiber, is expected to create a new position for the firm in the future.

It has a total investment of VND3,379 billion ($128.75 million) and consists of two phases with a total designed capacity of 60,000 tons per year.

The first phase, with a total investment of VND2,130 billion ($81.16 million), has an annual capacity of 36,000 tons.

The firm currently operates a 20,000-ton plant in Cu Chi, HCMC and another in Trang Bang, Tay Ninh province with a capacity of 43,000 tons per year.

Speaking at the plant inauguration event, chairman Dang Trieu Hoa said that once the plant operates stably and sustainably, the company will implement phase 2, based on market demand and the planned roadmap.

The inauguration of the Unitex plant holds special significance in the company’s upcoming development strategy. It is not merely the launch of a new production facility, but also a milestone affirming Century Synthetic Fiber’s long-term investment strategy in modern technology, automation, and sustainable development, Hoa noted.

Through this project, the company clearly demonstrates its orientation toward developing new product lines, particularly environmentally friendly products, to meet sustainable consumption, he added.

Against the backdrop of global economic instability since April 2025, Hoa noted that with the new Unitex plant coming into operation, the company will optimize the strengths of each plant based on three key pillars.

These include optimizing costs; investing in machinery and equipment to reduce waste; and focusing on environmentally friendly products with special features that enhance comfort and user health such as UV protection, thermal insulation, and cooling effects.

Chairman Hoa stressed that instability in the global economic and political environment has caused customers to adopt a “wait-and-see” approach. "This has negatively affected business activities, especially in industrial production."

Hoa expects market conditions to become more stable from the second half of 2026 onward, enabling Century Synthetic Fiber to utilize 70% of the Unitex plant’s capacity.

Century Synthetic Fiber is one of Vietnam’s leading manufacturers of high-end polyester filament yarn, having built a strong reputation and brand presence in both domestic and international markets over more than 15 years.

The company has become a key supplier to premium fabric manufacturers that serve world-renowned brands such as Nike, Adidas, Uniqlo, Under Armour, Decathlon, Puma, and Guess.

One of the firm’s key advantages lies in its recycled yarn products. Despite ongoing market challenges, it has continued to record positive growth in the recycled yarn segment, with 2025 revenue increasing by 25.2% year-on-year.

Notably, revenue from recycled yarn accounted for approximately 49.8% of the company's total, affirming the core role of this product group in the company’s sustainable development strategy.

The corporation, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) as STK, closed Friday at VND13,350 ($0.51) per share.
