China President Xi to visit Vietnam next week
Xi Jinping, the Chinese Communist Party's General Secretary and China’s President, and his wife will pay a state visit to Vietnam on December 12-13, three months after a landmark visit by U.S. President Joe Biden in September.

President Xi will arrive in Hanoi at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam's (CPV) General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnam’s President Vo Van Thuong, the CPV Commission for External Relations announced on Wednesday.
The announcement comes after several Chinese officials visited Vietnam in recent weeks, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi coming to Hanoi last Friday and Saturday.
Xi last visited Vietnam in 2017 when he attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Danang.
President Joe Biden made a 24-hour visit to Hanoi in September, during which Hanoi and Washington upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, on par with China, Russia, India, and South Korea.
Vietnam and Japan elevated bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership during President Thuong’s visit to Tokyo last month.
