Clean energy developer Nexif Ratch okayed to survey wind in Binh Dinh province
Vietnam’s central province of Binh Dinh has given Nexif Ratch Energy, a Singapore-based clean energy developer, in-principle approval to conduct wind survey activities onshore.
In a document issued mid-January, the province allowed Nexif Ratch Energy SE Asia Pte. Ltd to install wind measuring equipment to survey wind in an area of 1,368 hectares of Van Canh district.

Also in the document, Binh Dinh authorities gave an in-principle nod to Nam Hai Tech Co., Ltd, a local business, to conduct a similar survey. The firm is permitted to install two sets of wind measuring equipment to survey two areas of 2,253 hectares and 2,208 hectares, both in Van Canh district.
The two firms are given three land lots of 100 square meters each for 18 months to install the equipment, the provincial authorities clarified.
In November 2023, in a document sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for approval, Binh Dinh authorities suggested the addition of various offshore and onshore wind power projects to the province‘s investment portfolio.
Two projects were suggested in Van Canh district. One of them is the 150-MW Van Canh Binh Dinh, with an investment of VND5,500 billion ($225 million) and an annual output of 433 million kWh.
The other project is the 450 MW Van Canh, with an investment of VND15,862 billion ($649.3 million) and an annual output of 1,380 million kWh. This project features two sub-units of 250 MW Van Canh 1 farm and 200 MW Van Canh 2 farm.
Nexif Ratch, with Singapore’s Nexif Energy and Thailand’s Ratch Group as two stakeholders, operates in Australia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. In January 2024, Nexif Ratch Energy completed the acquisition of the 30 MW Minh Luong hydropower plant in Vietnam’s northern province of Lao Cai.
Prior to the latest acquisition, its Vietnam portfolio included seven projects. The 37-MW Song Giang 2 hydropower in the central province of Khanh Hoa is the only one in operation. The firm is developing one hydropower, two solar, and three wind power projects.
