Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan elected chairman of VAFIE
Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, standing vice chairman of the Vietnam's Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE), was elected as chairman on Thursday, for the 2025-2030 term.
The election was conducted after the association's successful sixth congress. With high consensus, the executive committee elected the chairman, eight vice chairpeople, general secretary, and deputy general secretary for the sixth term.
Tuan replaces Prof. Nguyen Mai, former Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Cooperation and Investment, later known as the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
VAFIE is the parent entity of The Investor, and Dr. Tuan used to be editor-in-chief of the online business publication.

The chairpeople include Nguyen Noi, Hoang Hung Quang, Nguyen Ngoc My, Tran Quoc Lam, Tran Van Hien, Nguyen Huu Duong, Nguyen Van Toan, and Vu Thi Thu Huong.
Ha Ba Tuan was reelected as general secretary, while Nguyen Thi Minh Hien becomes deputy general secretary.
Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan was born in 1955; his hometown is Dai Nai commune, Ha Tinh town, Ha Tinh province. He has a doctorate in economics.
Dr. Tuan once held the positions of deputy director of the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment and editor-in-chief of Vietnam Investment Review.
With diverse experience and strategic vision in the fields of economics and investment, he is expected to continue enhancing the role of VAFIE in supporting businesses and promoting foreign investment in Vietnam.
The congress also agreed on a major work program for Q2/2025 of VAFIE, including:
- Developing a scheme to perfect the organization and apparatus of VAFIE to meet the development requirements in the new period;
- Organizing a workshop on “Solutions to promote private economic development” (scheduled for end-May/2025, after the Politburo issues a resolution on private economic development);
- Organizing the Europe-China-Vietnam Investment Forum from June 10-12, 2025;
- Implementing investment promotion programs with Northern Australia, China, etc.;
- Addressing recommendations from businesses to remove obstacles in investment and business activities;
- Implementing MoUs with partners: BKHolding, ACCA, Phenikaa University...;
- Organizing the second outing of the "Business Networking" Golf Club;
- Directing and supporting its media entity Nha dau tu (www.nhadautu.vn) and The Investor to organize events;
- Organizing the second Executive Committee meeting in 2025 (scheduled for June 15-20, 2025).
After listening to the delegates' comments, newly-elected chairman Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan welcomed the proposals of the VAFIE members. He said he hopes the initiatives will be carefully appraised and prepared for sending to the association's Secretariat to turn them into reality.
The new chairman said he believes that, with the intelligence, capacity, and experience in corporate governance of VAFIE members, especially executive committee members, VAFIE will develop dynamically and efficiently in the coming time.
