EVN transmission unit in southern Vietnam determined to practice thrift, combat wastefulness
The Tay Ninh Power Transmission Unit (PTU) under Power Transmission Company No. 4 (PTC4), a subsidiary of National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNTP), has integrated the “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style” campaign into their efforts to practice thrift and combat wastefulness.

The unit has promoted the pioneering and exemplary spirit of its officials and Party members in both their work and daily lives.
Founded on July 1, 2025, the Tay Ninh PTU is responsible for managing the power grid across the southern province of Tay Ninh - a locality characterized by harsh weather conditions, including intense heat in the dry season and frequent thunderstorms and lightning in the rainy season.
Despite limited facilities, human resources, and the volatility of fuel and material prices, the team has remained steadfast in its goals. It has resolutely implemented cost-saving and anti-waste measures across all areas: operations, regular and major maintenance, public asset management, labor, and working time.
Regarding concrete measures, the unit has thoroughly reviewed its plans for each task, analyzed monthly expenditures, closely monitored disbursement schedules, and adjusted spending flexibly.
Cost-saving measures have been in place such as limiting unnecessary procurement of expensive equipment and minimizing expenses on meetings, conferences, and hospitality, as well as fuel, electricity, water, and office supplies. Online meetings are prioritized, with content integrated to shorten meeting duration.
To fulfill the 2025 performance targets, the Tay Ninh PTU has actively applied technology and digital transformation initiatives. These include using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for routine and ad-hoc inspections of transmission lines, and installing AI-powered cameras at key locations.
The 24/7 online surveillance system, supported by AI camera alerts, has helped optimize manpower and enhance inspection and monitoring efficiency.
At substations and mobile operation teams managed by the unit, smart management systems are used for routine equipment inspections, integrated with the digital operation logbook on the project management information system (PMIS).
Data from inspections are entered directly into the centralized management system and electronic logs, eliminating the need for paper records, saving costs and storage space, and optimizing interactions among operators, inspectors, and technical managers.
The unit has also strongly adopted common software platforms provided by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its subsidiary EVNNPT on centralized databases such as Digital Office (D-Office), Investment Management Information System (IMIS), Electronic Steering Column Lock (e-SCL), Human Resource Management System (HRMS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Most documents are now scanned and stored digitally, reducing paperwork, saving time in searching and accessing information, and enhancing overall productivity.
Employees at the Tay Ninh PTU maintain habits of saving electricity at the office and during operations, while also fostering a green working environment by using natural light and ventilation.
At substations, incandescent and fluorescent lights have been replaced with LEDs; lighting systems are automated and optimized seasonally; and fans, pumps, and heaters are operated in energy-efficient modes.
The unit’s labor union has launched an energy-saving campaign, with 100% of staff participating in the “2025 Knowledge Contest on Efficient and Economical Energy Use.” Each staff member is encouraged to lead by example and promote energy-saving awareness among their families and communities.
Through strong and unified efforts from the Party committee, leadership, and all employees, the unit is gradually turning the principles of thrift and anti-wastefulness into daily habits. These efforts contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring the safe, continuous operation and management of the regional power grid.
