Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang praised Ford’s significant contributions to Vietnam’s automotive industry and economy.
He noted that after nearly 30 years of operation in the market, Ford Vietnam stands as a living example of strengthening bilateral trade and investment between Vietnam and the U.S., contributing to GDP, creating thousands of jobs, and supporting the domestic supply chain.
Giang called on major corporations like Ford to expand their investment in the country, bringing advanced technologies and modern management skills to further develop the automotive sector and promote socio-economic progress.
He particularly encouraged contributions to digital transformation and green transition, aligning with Vietnam’s goals of industrialisation and international integration.
The Deputy Minister also expressed his hope that Ford Vietnam would continue serving as a bridge to support the development of Vietnam-U.S. relations, give a helping hand to address reciprocal tariff issues, advocate for the recognition of Vietnam as a market economy, and contribute to deeper, more substantive bilateral ties.
U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper emphasized that Ford Vietnam remains the only major American automobile manufacturer investing in the Southeast Asian country.
He said Ford’s journey reflects the extraordinary transformation in the Vietnam-U.S. bilateral ties – from the normalization of relations in 1995 to the current Comprehensive Strategic Partnership covering all areas of cooperation.
Continuous investments by Ford underscores Vietnam’s importance not only to the company but also to US businesses across sectors, he added.
Ruchik Shah, managing director of Ford Vietnam, highlighted that the company’s 30-year milestone reflects its enduring presence in the country and serves as a foundation for future innovations.
He noted that passion continues to drive Ford’s efforts in product development, service innovation, and community engagement, contributing positively to Vietnam’s socio-economic growth.
In 1995, Ford invested over $200 million in Vietnam, becoming the U.S.'s largest and only foreign direct investor in the Southeast Asian country's automobile industry. The investment has helped strengthen economic cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S. in the automotive industry.
In 2022, the company added $82 million to expand its plant in Hai Duong province, tripling capacity to 40,000 vehicles annually. The factory now employs more than 1,200 workers, 90% of them are local people, while its network of 56 dealerships and branches generate around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Marking its next chapter, Ford Vietnam has unveiled the new edition of Ford Territory and the legendary Mustang Mach-E, underscoring its commitment to innovation and enhanced user experiences.
The new Ford Territory offers enhanced design, connectivity, and comfort, while the Mustang Mach-E combines advanced technology, driver assistance, and a 550 km EV range with Mustang performance.
Both models will reach Vietnamese customers from late September 2025, broadening Ford’s lineup and marking the start of its EV journey.
Over 30 years, Ford has made its mark with iconic models like the Laser and EcoSport, while current best-sellers - Ranger, Everest, Transit, and Territory - dominate their segments, with the Territory now the second-best-selling C-segment urban SUV.
