Foreign investors net buyers for 11th consecutive session

Foreign investors were net buyers for the 11th consecutive session on Monday to the tune of VND1,379 billion ($57.47 million) on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE).

They mainly net purchased HPG of steel giant Hoa Phat, VNM of Vinamilk, and STB of Sacombank.

The benchmark VN-Index, which represents the HoSE, rose 13.66 points or 1.26% to 1,093.67, with 351 gainers and 135 losers.

The major bourse saw more than 1.25 billion shares changing hands for VND20.23 trillion ($843 million), up nearly 13% in trading value from the previous session on November 2.

The market gain was mainly driven by large-cap stocks in the VN30 basket. The VN30-Index increased 17.95 points or 1.64%, with 25 gainers and only three losers. Of these, STB, KDH of Khang Dien Holdings, SSI of Saigon Securities, and PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corp. hit their ceiling prices.

On the other side, NVL of Novaland Group dropped to its floor price after a positive trading week from November 28 to December 2 with a nearly 16.4% increase. The stock recorded more than 60.5 million shares changing hands for over VND1,387 billion ($57.8 million), the highest trading value on the HoSE.

NVL, VIC of Vingroup (-1%), and POW of PV Power (-1.7%) had the most negative impact on the VN-Index.

In the week-beginning session, the banking, securities and steel stocks showed the best performances with many closing in the purple color like SSI, VND of VNDirect Securities, VCI of Viet Capital Securities, LPB of LienVietPostBank, HSG of Hoa Sen Group, and NKG of Nam Kim Steel JSC.

The green color also covered other groups like chemical, seaport, cement, industrial real estate, garment, seafood, and construction.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse went up by 4 points or 1.85% to 219.96, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market rose 1.03 points or 1.43% to 73.24.
