Foreign Ministry spokeswoman appointed Deputy Minister

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh appointed Friday the Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang and senior official Do Viet Hung as Deputy Foreign Ministers.

Previously, Hang was director of the ministry's Press Information Department, while Hung was director of the Department of International Organizations. They were both assistants to Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Hang, 50, has a bachelor's degree in English and law. She obtained a master's degree in diplomacy and international communications in the UK's University of the West of England.

In March 2017, she was appointed director of the Press Information Department and the ministry's spokeswoman.

Do Viet Hung was appointed vice director and then director of the Department of International Organizations in 2019.

The Foreign Ministry now has five deputy ministers, with Le Thi Thu Hang the only female. The remaining four are Nguyen Minh Vu, Ha Kim Ngoc, Pham Quang Hieu, and Do Hung Viet.
