Operator of iconic market Ben Thanh appoints new general director
Nguyen Viet Ha, chairwoman of Ben Thanh Trading and Service JSC (Ben Thanh TSC), has been appointed the company's new general director, starting from January 1, 2025.
The company, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) as BTT, recently notified the Vietnamese major bourse of its key personnel changes.
Effective January 1, 2025, HCMC-headquartered Ben Thanh TSC will dismiss Tran Huu Hoang Vu, who has served as general director and the company’s legal representative for nine years.
Meanwhile, board member Pham Hoang Liem will assume the position of board chairperson, replacing Nguyen Viet Ha.

Following these significant changes, the new board of directors will consist of Pham Hoang Liem as chairman and three members: Truong Nguyen Thien Kim (wife of To Hai, general director of Vietcap Securities), Bui Thi Thu Thuy, and Nguyen Thi Tuong Nga.
On December 13, 2024, Ben Thanh issued an announcement regarding Tran Huu Hoang Vu’s resignation as general director and legal representative, effective January 1, 2025.
In his resignation letter, Vu explained that since early 2016, he had dedicated himself to working with the executive board to achieve and surpass the goals set by the shareholders’ general meeting.
However, he added that the company’s new phase requires a fresh leader who can meet shareholders’ expectations and guide the company toward stronger growth and groundbreaking achievements.
Established in 1992, Ben Thanh TSC, formerly known as Ben Thanh General Trading Company, operates primarily in trade, real estate services, and financial investment.
Its portfolio includes commercial business areas such as the Ben Thanh Dong center (Ben Thanh market) and Dan Sinh center (Dan Sinh market).
On December 20, the company’s board of directors decided to terminate the operations of its branch at Ben Thanh Tay center.
BTT shares closed Tuesday at VND35,000 ($1.38) apiece.
Ben Thanh Market, located in District 1, is one of the top tourism destinations in HCMC and an icon of the city.
