GG Power, a wholly Vietnamese-owned firm, has debuted a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing plant in Hung Yen province, marking a milestone in the country’s push into high-tech energy industries.

The facility, located at the Industrial Park No. 5 in the northern province's Xuan Truc commune, has a designed capacity of 5 GWh per year and features automation levels exceeding 90%, underscoring the country’s growing capability to participate in advanced energy technology.

The plant spans 1.2 hectares and includes a two-storey production complex and a R&D center. It is among the first BESS factories in Vietnam built to international standards, enabling strict quality control throughout the production process.

Its product portfolio covers a full range of energy storage solutions, including residential systems, commercial and industrial (C&I) applications, and utility-scale projects, targeting both domestic and international markets.

Local production capacity allows GG Power to secure supply chains, shorten delivery times and tailor solutions to Vietnam’s operating conditions, the company said.

The plant’s technology platform is based on a formal technology transfer partnership with Goldwind, a global provider of wind power and energy storage solutions with operations in more than 30 countries.

Under a licensing model, GG Power retains control over its R&D processes while receiving long-term technical support, specialized engineering training, and continuous updates on operational and maintenance technologies.

The company has also developed an energy management system (EMS), the core control platform of BESS, designed to be highly compatible with Vietnam’s power grid while ensuring domestic data storage and security.

Chairman and CEO Bui Xuan Binh said the company aims to go beyond manufacturing to mastering core technologies, from control systems to integrated energy solutions.

“We are investing heavily in R&D, building internal standards and expanding international partnerships. This is a challenging but necessary path to establish a new energy industry,” he said, adding that Vietnam could emerge as a regional energy storage hub.

GG Power plans to expand supporting facilities in the next phase to enhance production capacity and strengthen its domestic supply chain.

The project aligns with Hung Yen province’s development strategy to become a high-tech industrial province by 2030, with a longer-term vision to 2045, local officials said.

At the launch event last Saturday, the company also signed strategic agreements with technology partners, international clients and distributors to build a nationwide network, ensuring consistent technical standards and after-sales support across BESS projects.

GG Power said it prioritizes long-term reliability and sustainability over low-cost solutions, pledging to provide comprehensive and responsible energy services.

“We are not just selling products, but committing to solving energy challenges alongside our customers,” the company said.
