Hai Phong lists 137 mega projects for foreign investment in industrialization spree
In a massive industrialization push, the People's Committee of Hai Phong city has approved a list of 137 projects calling for foreign investment in the 2023-2025 period.
These include 16 industrial parks (IPs), nine logistics centers and 52 urban development areas.
Of the 16 IP development projects in the list, three in Tien Lang district have the largest land use area: Tien Lang 2 with 500-550 hectares; Tien Lang Airport with 450-550 hectares; and Tien Lang 1 with 407 hectares.
These are followed by three IPs in Vinh Bao district: Vinh Quang with 340-350 hectares; An Hoa with 200 hectares; and Giang Bien II with 350 hectares.
Thuy Nguyen, An Duong, An Lao and Kien Thuy districts boast two IP projects each, while Cat Hai and Hai An districts have one each.
The seven industrial development areas seeking foreign investment are: Ben Rung (330 hectares); Southwest Cat Hai Island (700-720 hectares); Northern Lach Huyen (1,200-1,300 hectares); Cai Trap Island (100-110 hectares); Tran Duong-Hoa Binh (800-900 hectares); Trung Lap (500-600 hectares); and Tam Da (150-180 hectares).
Then there are 22 industrial cluster projects, the smallest of them being the Co Am trade village cluster (20-30 hectares) and the Dung Tien-Giang Bien industrial cluster (110-120 hectares) being the largest. The remaining projects have an average area of 50-100 hectares.
Among nine logistics development projects are the Lach Huyen logistics center located in Hai Phong international gateway port area (300-350 hectares), the Southern Do Son port logistics center (200-300 hectares) and the Kien Thuy logistics center (120 hectares).
Of the 52 urban development projects in the list, the largest is the 2,000-hectare Southeast Hai Phong urban area straddlining the two districts of Duong Kinh and Do Son.
Thuy Nguyen district takes the lead in urban area development with 10 projects, including one covering 400 hectares in Thuy Duong and Hoa Binh communes; and another with 120 hectares in Hoa Dong commune.
It is followed by An Duong district with eight projects, the largest of them being the 150-hectare Trang Due urban area in Le Loi commune.
Others urban areas in the list include: the 520-hectare Bang La urban area in Do Son district; Southern Cam River multi-functional smart ecological urban area in Hong Bang district; 118-hectare Cam riverside urban area and cultural-financial center complex in Ngo Quyen district; 200-hectare Nam Trang Cat urban area in Hai An district, and 170-hectare Phu Long urban and tourist service area in Cat Hai island district.
There are four tourism development projects inviting foreign investment including a tourism, sports and entertainment project in Do Son district (900-910 hectares) and a 340 hectare project to develop eco-tourism areas and urban resorts in association with hot mineral water spots in Khoi Nghia and Quyet Tien communes, Tien Lang district.
The other two tourism projects are the $20 million overseas passenger terminal in the Hai Phong International Gateway Port Complex; and the $30 million Song Gia Lake eco-tourism area in Thuy Nguyen district.
