Hanoi’s pho restaurant, ice cream among world’s most legendary places: Taste Atlas
World’s leading food magazine Taste Atlas have voted Trang Tien ice cream and Pho Thin Restaurant in Hanoi among most legendary places in the world.
Located at 35 Trang Tien street in Hoan Kiem district, Trang Tien ice cream ranked 13th in a list of world’s 100 most iconic food places based on three criteria: longevity, visitors ratings, and the TasteAtlas ratings of the iconic dishes they offer.

The ice cream restaurant is the popular address of local and international tourists.
Founded late in the 1950s, this ice cream address was highly appreciated by Taste Atlas experts as part of Hanoi culinary heritage.
The most popular dish there is coconut milk cream.
“Trang Tien ice cream is famous for its unique and traditional Vietnamese ice cream flavors,” Taste Atlas wrote.
Meanwhile, Pho Thin Restaurant which serves pho (Vietnam’s iconic beef noodle soup) ranked 63rd in a list of 150 most legendary restaurants in the world.
Opened in the 1970s, the restaurant is one of the capital’s long-standing pho stalls and is much loved by Hanoians and foreign tourists.
Beef noodle soup originates from Hanoi but has become a national dish, praised by international media for years now.
The noodle soup uses various cuts of beef, including brisket, flank, eye-round steak, tripe, and beef balls in southern Vietnam, bones and different main ingredients for the broth.
Diners can customize it with a platter of bean sprouts, lime wedges, and sliced hot peppers, and often, hoisin and chili sauces are provided on the side for extra flavor.
The northern-style pho version differs from the southern version by combining well-done and rare or half-done beef. The rare or half-done beef is cooked by the hot broth at the moment of serving.
Vietnam’s cuisine reputation has achieved global spotlight this year.
In June, four Vietnamese restaurants - Hibana by Koki, Gia and Tam Vi in Hanoi and Anăn Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City - were recognized with one Michelin Star for the first time for the high-quality cooking and outstanding culinary experience they offer.
The Rhythms and Cloud Nine in Hanoi then were voted on a list of the 25 best fine dining restaurants in Asia by Tripadvisor readers at the 2023 Travellers' Choice 'Best of the Best' Restaurants Awards.
Hum - Healthy Veggies Delights in Ho Chi Minh City has recently been named among the world’s 25 best vegetarian restaurants by readers of Tripadvisor.
