HCMC will implement “key tasks and solutions” to increase investment in logistics infrastructure development, enlarging loading and unloading capacity, and building seaport warehouses, the municipal administration says.

These activities will be undertaken under a plan recently issued by the administration to meet the goal of developing logistics into an important industry in the city by 2030, based on “maximizing opportunities to take the lead in global supply chains.”

The plan will form part of the Government's Action Program and the city Party Committee's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 31-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for developing HCMC by 2030, with a vision until 2045.

The plan calls for investment projects to be implemented in a consistent, effective, transparent, fair and legal manner. It also targets maximization of social resources in implementation, encouraging investment from private enterprises by creating favorable conditions through policies related to tax, land and administrative procedures.

The plan has a clear focus on applying green logistics in the supply chain to help transport goods effectively while minimizing pollution and being environmentally friendly. This is considered a prerequisite for development and international integration that will also help businesses increase their competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth.

The plan accords priority to projects applying 4.0 technologies, promoting digital and green transformation, using renewable energy, and applying other environmental protection measures.

It also promotes further application of information technology in state management and public services.

To become a logistics hub in Southeast Asia, the city will focus on investing in developing a synchronous and modern logistics infrastructure system, enhancing connectivity between economic, industrial, trade service, and distribution centers of the nation’s southeastern region and the Southern Key Economic Zone.

By 2045, HCMC will have developed logistics into a spearhead, sustainable, efficient, high-quality and value-added economic sector, capable of competing in the region and the world.
