The Central Inspection Committee has proposed disciplinary action against Nguyen Thi Hong, former vice chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City, and Le Duy Minh, former director of the municipal Tax Department.

The committee on Thursday stated that former HCMC vice chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hong and Le Duy Minh, director of HCMC’s Department of Finance and former director of the city’s Tax Department, showed their degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle.

They were also found to have violated Party regulations and State laws, and rules on Party members’ code of conduct.

Their acts "caused very serious consequences, angering the public and adversely affecting the reputation of Party organizations and State agencies to the point that they must be disciplined," the committee noted.

Previously, legal proceedings had been launched against Nguyen Thi Hong for abusing positions and power while on duties in a case that occurred at state-controlled Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG).

Le Duy Minh was arrested in December 2023 for receiving bribes in a case that occurred at Xuyen Viet Oil Company.

The Central Inspection Committee on Thursday also stated that it has proposed disciplinary action against Ngo Ngoc Duc, former Party chief of Hoa Binh province.

On August 5, the Ministry of Public Security’s investigative agency had launched legal proceedings against and detain Duc for “gambling” and “organizing gambling activities” that occurred in Hanoi and other localities.

In April 2023, Hoa Binh’s Party leaders had agreed to relieve Duc from the position of Hoa Binh’s Party chief for the 2020-2025 term per his wish.

Also on Thursday, the Central Inspection Committee delivered a warning to chairman of Bac Giang province Le Anh Duong, his deputy Le O Pich, and chairwoman of the provincial People's Council Le Thi Thu Hong for their violations.
