Hoa Binh province Party chief set to become State Auditor General

Ngo Van Tuan, Party chief of Hoa Binh province is poised to become the next State Auditor General pending a National Assembly vote in October.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said Sunday that the parliamentary Standing Committee has appointed Tuan as the Deputy State Auditor General in charge of the State Audit Office of Vietnam.

The same day, the Party Politburo appointed him as the State Audit Office's Party chief.

The State Audit Office, an agency established by the National Assembly, operates autonomously in auditing the management and use of public finances and assets in line with the laws.

The Politburo had earlier appointed Tran Sy Thanh as deputy Party chief of Hanoi, moving him from his erstwhile post of State Auditor General. Thanh took charge as Hanoi mayor last Friday.

Ngo Van Tuan, 51, holds a master's degree in economics and is a Party Central Committee member.

During his time at the Ministry of Finance, he was deputy head of the financial policy department; deputy chief of the ministry's Office cum assistant to the Minister; and head of the department of banks and financial institutions finance.

In 2017, he was appointed deputy head of the Party Central Economic Commission. In June 2019, he assumed charge as deputy Party chief of Hoa Binh province. Since October 2020, he has been Party chief of the northern province.
