Huawei to provide equipment for 100 MWp solar energy project in Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City-based Vietnam and Global Green Power JSC (Green Power) and Chinese giant Huawei have signed an MoU on developing 100 MWp of rooftop solar energy in Vietnam.
According to the MoU signed on Monday, Huawei will provide inverters, energy storage systems (ESS), and other technological solutions for the project.
Green Power aims to deploy rooftop solar power projects on islands of Vietnam, such as Phu Quoc in the southern province of Kien Giang and Phu Quy in the south-central province of Binh Thuan.

The cooperation can serve both sides’ goals of sustainable development and carbon emission reduction. Huawei highlighted that its solutions can help improve energy transmission by 40% compared to traditional grids.
Joining Vietnam in 1998, Huawei is now a top provider of solar energy equipment in the country. As of October 2024, on a global scale, Huawei had provided inverters of over 500 GW and energy storage systems of approximately 30 GWh.
Vietnam currently has about 103,000 rooftop solar power projects with a total installed capacity of more than 9,500 MW.
According to the national power development plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision until 2050 (PDP VIII), the capacity of solar power connected to the national grid will increase by 2,600 MW by 2030.
