Hyundai Vietnam vehicle sales up 16% in 2022
Hyundai sold 81,582 vehicles in Vietnam in 2022, up 15.6% year-on-year, according to Hyundai Thanh Cong, a joint venture between the South Korean giant and Vietnam's Thanh Cong Group.

B-class sedan Hyundai Accent topped the firm's sales list with 22,645 units in 2022, including 2,929 in December; followed by Hyundai Creta, a sport utility vehicle (SUV), with corresponding figures of 12,096 and 1,877.
Hyundai Accent ranked second among the bestselling vehicles in Vietnam last year. Toyota Vios, a five-seater sedan, topped the list with 23,529 units, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA). The third position belonged to Mitsubishi Xpander, a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), with 21,983 units.
Other top-selling Hyundai models last year were Grand i10, a sedan, with 10,752 units; SUV SantaFe with 10,603; and another SUV, Tucson, with 8,438.
Hyundai Stargazer, a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) which the automobile manufacturer started selling from October 2022, recorded sales of 599 units in December, totaling 1,121 in 2022.
Hyundai Thanh Cong is the only company producing, assembling, and distributing Hyundai vehicles in Vietnam. Grand i10, Accent, Elantra, KONA, Tucson, and SantaFe are completely knocked down (CKD) units, or vehicles assembled in Vietnam.
The firm launched its second manufacturing facility in Vietnam last November. The new plant, which covers 50 hectares in Gian Khau Industrial Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh, has a designed capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year, raising the joint venture’s total annual capacity to 180,000 units.
An investment of more than VND3,200 billion ($129 million) has gone into the new facility, according to the joint venture.
