Japan’s semiconductor maker Rorze invests extra $330 mln in northern Vietnam facility
Japan’s Rorze Corporation, a semiconductor and automation business, will invest $330 million more in its Vietnam subsidiary Rorze Robotech Co., Ltd., based in the northern coastal city of Hai Phong.
In a statement last week, Rorze said the move aims to respond to the expanding demand of the semiconductor market and the changes in technological innovation. The investment can help the firm strengthen its competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth.
Rorze will double the subsidiary's production capacity to meet the rising demand for existing products and accelerate market launch by establishing the mass production system of newly developed products. It will also promote the automation of the production line and improve production efficiency.
Established in 1996 with an investment of $62 million, Rorze Robotech’s factory is located in Japan-Hai Phong Industrial Park. The industrial park was renamed from Nomura-Hai Phong in 2023 per a request from Nomura Asia Investment (Vietnam) Pte. Ltd., its investor.
In January 2019, Rorze Robotech hiked its investment in Hai Phong to $426 million in a move to increase its annual production of robot components to 160,000 units and robot controllers to 14,500 units.
As of September 2024, Rorze Robotech employed 3,028 people.
Rorze’s new investment will expand the firm’s facility in Japan-Hai Phong Industrial Park. It will build a new plant on an area of 23.8 hectares. Rorze plans to begin the first-phase construction of the new plant in the spring of 2026 and complete it in 2027. More investments will be gradually made until 2032.
