Long Thanh Airport construction runs through lunar new year holiday
Workers, engineers, and equipment are all still working at the construction site of Long Thanh International Airport near Ho Chi Minh City through the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) from January 20-26.
Site leveling work runs thru Tet at Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai, southern Vietnam.
More than 2,600 people and around 1,850 machines are working with no days off at the construction site in Dong Nai province, said Do Tat Binh, deputy CEO of the Airport Corporation of Vietnam, the project developer.
He said they are seeking to complete site leveling work as committed to contractors so that construction can begin on schedule. To date, more than 40% of the leveling work has been finished.

A key infrastructure project in southern Vietnam, Long Thanh International Airport has a designed capacity of 100 million passengers per year. It is expected to help ease overloading at Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC. The new airport covers 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh district.
Construction work began in 2021 and the new airport is set to open in 2025.
