Marubeni becomes shareholder of Amata subsidiary in northern Vietnam
Marubeni Corporation has completed procedures to acquire a 20% stake in Amata Ha Long, a subsidiary of Thailand’s Amata Corporation, the companies said during a meeting with Quang Ninh authorities on Tuesday.
The development was disclosed at a meeting between the companies and Bui Van Khang, Chairman of the Quang Ninh People's Committee.
Representatives of the companies said Marubeni Corporation’s investment in Amata Ha Long is expected to bolster the company’s financial capacity, improve governance standards, and enhance its ability to attract Japanese technology firms to Song Khoai Industrial Park

During the meeting, the two corporations discussed several areas of potential cooperation, including proposals to expand Uong Bi Industrial Park and the western section of Song Khoai Industrial Park.
Developed by Amata Corporation, Song Khoai Industrial Park has attracted 25 tenants, all foreign-invested enterprises, with combined registered capital of nearly $3 billion and the creation of about 4,400 jobs.
The leased area at Song Khoai Industrial Park has reached 173.3 hectares, out of the 288 hectares the state has allocated to Amata.
Projects currently operating or under development at the industrial park are primarily in the processing and manufacturing sectors, with relatively high technological content and added value.
Song Khoai Industrial Park has attracted a number of globally recognized manufacturers, including Autoliv, JinkoSolar, Foxconn, Lite-On, Yaskawa Electric Corporation, and Tamagawa Seiki.
At the meeting, Khang praised Amata Corporation for its contributions to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province, particularly in investment attraction, job creation, and social welfare initiatives for local residents.
He said that as 2026 marks the first year of implementing the province’s 2026-2030 socio-economic development plan, Quang Ninh aims to sustain robust growth momentum, with many economic indicators expected to remain among the country’s top performers.
The chairman noted Quang Ninh province’s position among the top five localities in the 2025 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) rankings, along with its third-place nationwide ranking in the Private Economic Efficiency Index, reflected continued improvements in the province’s business environment.
Khang called on Amata and Marubeni to work closely with local authorities on compensation and site clearance while mobilizing resources to accelerate investment progress and complete technical infrastructure at Song Khoai Industrial Park.
He also encouraged the two investors to continue attracting high-quality projects to the industrial park in the coming years.
The chairman proposed that Amata and Marubeni consider investing in worker housing, social infrastructure, and employee facilities to support the development needs of the industrial park and its current and future projects.
He further suggested that the two companies explore additional investment opportunities aligned with the province’s long-term development strategy, including the proposed Quang Ninh Free Digital and Knowledge Economic Zone and industrial parks identified in the province’s 2021-2030 master plan, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in February 2023.
