Nam Dinh authorities have presented the northern province’s potentials and expressed their desire to collaborate with Germany in developing automotive and mechanical industries at a working session with the Berlin-Brandenburg Automotive Association (aBB).

They noted that Germany was a leader in the auto industry and auto equipment, boasting globally renowned brands like Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and Volkswagen.
aBB comprises 340 high-capacity companies in the vehicle manufacturing and automotive parts production sectors across Berlin and Brandenburg. Notably, it is implementing a cooperation project with Japan, China and Vietnam (BeCAN 2.0) aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Berlin and Brandenburg restructure their international supply chains and enhance the automotive industry’s value.
Michael Bose, head of international relations at aBB and manager of the BeCAN 2.0 project, noted at the September 12 meeting in Germany that while Vietnam's automotive industry was still developing, successful companies like VinFast have emerged through technical collaboration with German firms.
He said German companies were increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market and aBB planned to organize a delegation of German businesses to engage with Vietnamese associations and companies in this field soon.
Pham Dinh Nghi, Chairman of the Nam Dinh People's Committee, said that the northern Vietnam province, located at the center of the southern Red River Delta, possessed significant potential, advantages and room for investment and business development.
"We have a young, abundant, and highly skilled workforce; a modern transportation system that connects to Hanoi, economic hubs and neighboring provinces. Moreover, the province always offers incentives for foreign investors," Nghi said.
He said he hoped German companies and investors would join projects in the province, particularly in high-tech industries, parts manufacturing, automotive assembly and electronics.
“Nam Dinh will provide the most favorable conditions and always accompany investors and businesses," he affirmed, inviting representatives from aBB and German companies to visit and explore collaboration opportunities in the province.
Trade Counsellor Dang Thanh Phuong with the Vietnamese Trade Office in Germany said the economic giant was Vietnam's most important trade and investment partner within the EU.
Cooperation in the automotive and mechanical industries presented numerous potential opportunities for both sides, she added.
Nam Dinh has advantages in transportation and expanding industrial infrastructure. It was also focused on collaborating and attracting investment in new technologies and modern industries, Phuong said, adding the province was home to several high-quality vocational training institutions in technical and industrial fields capable of meeting workforce needs of German companies.
