Petrovietnam tech arm PTSC to build substations for giant Polish wind power project
Vietnam's PTSC Mechanical and Construction Company (PTSC M&C) has been awarded a contract to build substations for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm project 40 kilometers off the Polish coast.
A consortium between PTSC M&C and Denmark-headquartered offshore industry business Semco Maritime was offered an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project by Poland's PGE Group and Denmark's Orsted, the latter announced on Tuesday. The consortium will be supported by Denmark-based ISC Consulting Engineers and South Korea-based Hyundai Electric.

The 1.5 GW Baltica 2 project, Poland’s largest-ever renewable energy project, features 107 wind turbines and will power 2.4 million Polish households. It is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2027.
The Vietnamese side will build four offshore substations at its yard in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau under the EPC contract set for 2023-2026.
“The award of the Baltica 2 Project with our valued partner Semco Maritime once again affirms our determination to shift service lines into the renewable sector and integrate with the energy transition flow happening on a global scale,” said Dong Xuan Thang, PTSC M&C’s managing director.
PTSC M&C, an arm of Petrovietnam Technical Services Corp (PTSC), is a leading engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor for the upstream, downstream and renewable energy sectors. PTSC is a subsidiary of state-run Petrovietnam.
In November 2022, PTSC M&C kicked off the construction of offshore substations Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 at the 1,044-MW Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in the Taiwan Strait.
Last month, PTSC, signed a contract to build offshore wind farm foundations for Orsted, becoming the first Vietnamese business to receive a mass order for offshore wind power equipment.
